A mobile nursing service provides healthcare at home or other locations for patients who can't easily access a typical GP clinic. It's especially beneficial for elderly, disabled, or homebound individuals who need ongoing medical attention but prefer staying at home. These services ensure patients receive the care they need without the need to travel to a clinic or hospital.
-
Whilst your GP or audiologist may refer you to Golden Nurses, no referral form is required.

Ear cleaning is important to remove excessive wax buildup, which can cause hearing loss, discomfort, or infections. It helps improve hearing, prevents ear infections, and may relieve tinnitus symptoms. However, it's important to clean ears safely to avoid injury or pushing wax deeper. If you have pain or hearing issues, consult a healthcare provider before cleaning your ears.
-
If no impacted earwax is found and a thorough ear health assessment is completed, we will refer you to your GP or Audiologist for further evaluation by an ENT specialist if symptoms of blocked ears persist.
If we are unable to complete the service, your 50% deposit will cover the cost of the consultation, and no additional charges will apply.

Microsuction: Uses gentle suction to remove earwax. It's safer, especially for people with ear problems, as it doesn't involve water and is less likely to cause injury or infection.
Ear Syringing: Involves flushing the ear with water to remove wax. It can be riskier, especially if not done correctly, and may cause issues like pushing wax deeper or leading to infections.
In short, microsuction is generally safer and more precise than ear syringing.

Our Vorotek device provides a highly magnified view of the ear canal to clearly identify the type of outer ear infection you may have (bacterial or fungal). The infected debris is removed using a safe vacuum, allowing medicated ear drops to target the infection more effectively and helping to prevent the growth of additional bacteria or fungus.
Please note: For inner or middle ear infections, surgery is required to remove fluid from these areas.

In the rare event that we are unable to remove the wax, we will recommend using softening drops or olive oil for three days. Afterward, we will schedule a follow-up appointment for microsuction.

Yes, microsuction is considered safe if you have Exostosis.
Information: Exostosis, commonly known as swimmer's ear or surfer's ear, occurs due to frequent swimming in cold water. The ear drum responds by growing bony prominences to protect itself.
Unfortunately over time these growths can continue to expand and cause further narrowing to the ear canal. This can lead to problems such as water trapping, which may result in infections, tinnitus, migrating skin, and hearing difficulties.
-
Microsuction is ideal for removing foreign objects, such as bugs, sequins, cotton tips, hearing aid plugs, and more, that may become trapped in the outer ear canal. Please contact us right away, as you'll need a prompt appointment for this.
-
If you are somebody who wears hearing aids frequently, microsuction is something you should keep on your 3 - 6 monthly to do list. Why? This is because hearing aids prevent wax from being able to remove itself and can often lead to deep impacted wax. Furthermore, adding to the hearing loss.
-
Microsuction is the safest method of ear cleaning if you have grommets in or a recent ear drum perforation. It is best to avoid any ear cleaning devices that utilise water as they can push the water through to the middle ear and will often lead to infection.
